The original HFRO brass name plate
This web site was set up on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding, on 1st April 1954, of the Hill Farming Research Organisation, in the hope that it will enable ex-members of staff to keep in touch and share memories
HFRO ceased to exist on 1st April 1987 when it was merged with the Macaulay Institute for Soil Research to create the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute. Many staff remained at Bush then moved to Pentlandfield until Spring 1992 when all remaining staff moved to Aberdeen.
The Reunion Lunch was held on Wednesday 6th September at the James Hutton Institute site in Invergowrie. There were 26 of us there and we had a great time reminiscing. Thanks are due to Colin Campbell and the Staff at the James Hutton Institute, Invergowrie for hosting the event. To see photos from the 2023 Reunion, click HERE.
